Power doesn’t just rule; it persuades.

In every era, those in power propagate a story. Today, that story has become so ubiquitous that it is invisible. It tells us that individualism is the highest good, that the market is always right, and that there is no alternative.

The Invisible Doctrine investigates the origins and consequences of this pervasive worldview. From economic policy to pop culture, we expose how this doctrine shapes our lives, limits our imagination, and tightens its grip on our future. It’s time to make the invisible, visible.

Celebrate Black History Month with Black Ice

This February, 27, 2026 (Friday) we invite you to join us for a special Black History Month screening of Black Ice, a groundbreaking documentary that reclaims a forgotten chapter of Canadian sports history.

In a month dedicated to honoring the legacy and achievements of Black communities, Black Ice serves as a powerful reminder that the story of hockey—a sport central to Canadian identity—is deeply intertwined with Black history. Long before the NHL, and dating back to 1865, the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes (CHL) was formed. As the first all-Black professional league in Canada, these resilient athletes not only pioneered the game but also revolutionized it, introducing innovations like the “splashout” that shaped modern hockey.

This film is more than a sports story; it is a testament to Black excellence, ingenuity, and the unyielding spirit of community. It challenges what we think we know and celebrates the diverse roots of a national obsession.

The South Rock Social Justice Film Society, in collaboration with Tides of Change (CAT), invites the community to an evening of short documentary screenings focused on healing, understanding, and social connection. This event will feature three powerful short documentaries that explore pressing social issues rooted in lived experience, followed by facilitated discussions, a panel Q&A, and interactive workshops designed to deepen reflection and dialogue.

More than a film screening, this gathering creates a shared space for learning and conversation—where stories become a starting point for empathy, awareness, and community-led change. By engaging with these films together, participants are encouraged to reflect on how social challenges affect our own neighbourhoods and how understanding can become a catalyst for healing. Admission is by donation, and all are welcome to join this meaningful evening of film, discussion, and collective insight.
